Backyard Camping

We wanted to take the kids camping (July 31), but were a little unprepared to go too far from home, so we decided to pitch a tent in the backyard. We had brats for us and hot dogs for the kids. Then we had s'mores, which the kids had a lot of fun making. We were supposed to go the an outdoor movie in the park that night, but it was rained out! So we came back to our little backyard tent and had a movie using our portable DVD player. The night was a little cool, thanks to the rain, but we had SO much fun. As soon as the kids woke up in the morning they were anxious to get back in the house (I think because it had cooled off so much overnight). They still talk about it and have asked to do it again!!

Greeley Arts Picnic

We took the kids downtown to the Arts Picnic (July 25). We let the kids play, got faces painted, had some snow cones and tried to stay dry in the rain. It was a great time!

Catching up

So I've had a bit of a blog famine, but I'm hoping to get caught up. So here comes a flood of posts. Enjoy!

Geocaching

So a couple of weeks ago, we decided to try geocaching.  I read about it around a year or so ago and after Toby got a GPS we figured it would be neat to try.  The idea is someone hides a container, sometimes as small as a film canister or even as large as a food storage container. Inside is a list of all those who have found it and sometimes there are small items for exchange, usually trinkets.  In other words, it's a treasure hunt.  We found a couple of them here in town and the kids haven't stopped talking about it.  Here are some pics of our adventure.

My first blog!

I am beginning this blog to try to stay connected with friends and family.  As I'm sitting here, I realize that I don't have a lot to say, but hopefully the posts will start to be much more interesting.  I am a full-time working mom of three boys and a girl, all under the age of eight.  My husband, Toby works and the University of Northern Colorado teaching music theory. As most of you know, we are going to be here in Greeley for another year, since Toby had no offers from any of the schools he interviewed at.  He will be working part-time (4 days a week), teaching at UNC, and I will continue working full time at a physical therapist at Fairacres Manor, a nursing home in town.
I hope my future posts are more interesting.
